Recent Purchase of Home through Howard Hanna

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased a home out of state and worked with a Howard Hanna agent who was more interested in providing an "aggressive deal" than my own interest. The home was purchased through another Howard Hanna broker and I asked in the beginning for all warranties to be transferred to me since it was a flipped home. After several conversations with my attorney, this did not happen, even though my realtor assured me it was no problem during negotiations. Due to selling my home and moving into this one I was not able to do a final walk through and arrived to a filthy home with paint stains on the floor throughout the home, breakers popping, and NO warranty or owner's manuals on newly installed appliances.

VERY unprofessional experience with an agent

In 2019 I listed a home for sale and had need to warn others of the Amy *** HH team in Medina Ohio. Specifically Ellen Chaney represented my buyers and, although they ended up buying the home I had for sale, they put me and my agent through the wringer. Harassing phone calls, up to 15 times a day, complaints made to the local government agencies, unprofessional attitudes and nasty snarky remarks, unrealistic requests and constant badgering was the way she did business to" get her client the best deal". Hello, I am a human person, not some-ones "best deal". They make up for their bad tactics by keeping the local papers full of advertisements and glowing reports of how terrific they are. Just saying- good ethics and politeness speaks for itself, you don't need the news to blow your horn for you.

Unethical practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The Howard Hanna agent befriended a single woman alcoholic and convinced her to sell her house for lower than what it was worth and spend an outrageously amount of money on an overpriced patio home that she can't afford in the long run. In my opinion the agent is more a drunk than the client.

Anyone But Howard Hanna

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My ex husband and I had 2 realtors managing the sale of our home. TWO! 9 months later, an average result at the absolute best. Minimum to zero communication, neither agent was with us to sign over our home, and when consulted with a question via text— “mark that box— I think”.. these people have zero regard for your investments or time. I would seriously consider another agency.

i would completely stay away from this company and it's agents. Not only they are dishonest and liars, they have inside dealing to defraud people who list with them.

Howard Hanna

Working with Kari Azzarello for the last 4 months has left me and my girlfriend homeless, after the down payment on the house was in the bank and everything was sent to the title company she sends me a email saying we didn't have enough income for the loan. SO ANYONE DEALING WITH HOWARD HANNA YOU WILL BE SORRY IN THE END AND PROBABLY HOMELESS.

HIDEOUS EXPERIENCE! SERIOUSLY! ONE OF THE WORST EVER!!!!!!!

HARVARD BUSINESS GRADUATE REVIEW...SELLERS BEWARE OF HOWARD HANNA REALTORS!!!!!! I recently sold my childhood home by myself because you DO NOT need a realtor anymore!!!!! The Internet has made selling a home EASY! I learned with my Harvard University graduate business degree that industries can and should be "disrupted" due to technological advances. For example, Uber and Lyft have taken over the taxi industry which is/was archaic, inconvenient and expensive! In fact, the ONLY reason realtors still exist is because they have a very strong lobby! A HOWARD HANNA realtor with the initials D.F. (female) in Neshannock Township (New Castle) PA (representing the buyers) tried to rip me off by at least $30K! Yes, $30 THOUSAND dollars! She had an unethical "inspector" write a bogus report (Home Master Inspection in Cranberry/Wexford, PA) ! Then, the realtor tried to shake me down for an additional $20K off the already reduced selling price! The approval of the buyer's FHA loan proved the "inspection" report was BOGUS! Super shady! DO NOT TRUST HOME MASTER INSPECTORS or HOWARD HANNA realtors according to my horrendous experience! I have plenty of proof and could have the realtor's license revoked. The inspectors do not even have licenses of any merit unless they are a PE, Professional Engineer. All of my excellent documentation is now in the hands of my attorneys!:) Stay tuned for the real estate selling/buying disruption!:) My recommendation for sellers is to hire your own inspector and preferably a Professional Engineer. PEs have a difficult to obtain license and are committed to being professional and ETHICAL! Another recommendation is to AVOID realtors completely!!!!!! Realtors (according to my experiences) usually fall into one of two buckets... LAZY (just want to post your property on the Internet) or UNETHICAL who will play every dirty trick possible for the buyers! SELLERS, DO NOT be foolish and think the realtor is EVER in YOUR corner...all they want to do is sell the property; therefore, the realtor is always for the buyer even if you, the seller, sign a contract with the realtor! For example, you lose $100K on selling your home, the realtor only loses $5K! Big difference! Buy your own multiple listing for 6 months for about $250 which will post your property with pictures, etc. on the Internet with all the important realtor sites!

It was a nightmare

When I signed papers with Dana Brown I was promised a amount. Upon sale of the house, I got nothing. What can I do? She had me sign a quit claim deed with the promise of cash. She's dishonest. I would never reccomend her or her company.

Unkind and uncalled for

To the guy driving the Honda Element with Howard Hanna stickers all over it making obscene sexual gestures at me today was totally uncalled for and unprofessional. This guy was making these gestures at me while driving down the road. Is this how you drive with your family in the car? You probably do considering you had no problem doing it in a company vehicle. Thanks to your actions I'll make sure everyone knows how wonderful these employees act while on the road! I'll make sure that anyone who is looking into a Howard Hanna home is directed to some other company.

Seriously?? I would not diminish the inappropriate nature of the person driving the vehicle, and certainly would never want to use that agent, but to trash a whole company based on one agents gestures is also inappropriate! Can you guarantee that everyone in the company you work for is a stand up person, or your family?

I've tried to schedule a tour to view an apartment out West Ghent in Norfolk, VA. There was only one pic, which was of the front of the apartment. But it's like pulling teeth trying to speak with someone. I've called been left on hold forever. When I finally speak to someone, she could not get a hold of the listed agent so she forward my information to a manager. Nobody called back so I called again. No response. A week later, I receive an email from someone other than the listed agent stating I can contact her at my convenience to schedule a tour. I responded an hour later and never received a response back. I've called the office again and called her cell number that was listed in the email. Left a voicemail. No response. By that time I was over it. Because if this is how someone act when I just want a tour, then I can only imagine how these people would act if I had a maintenance issue. I receive an email from a company asking for a review. Of course, I did not hesitate to leave a poor rating. Then like 15 minutes after I left the review, I received an email from the same lady stating it's a lot of applications on the apartment and that I can try again later or try another one. Never will I deal with this company in the near future ever. I dodged a bullet!

Howard Hanna- Pittsburgh (Linda Ehland)

Linda Ehland, in my opinion, was very difficult to work with and is not an ethical agent. She was condescending, negative, late for appointments, and downright rude at times.

Several things she did were unethical. During the process she forgot to forward me information and when reminded acted as if she had already sent me the information (despite never sending it.) I'm not sure if I caught Linda at a bad time in her life, but overall she was borderline mean and made the experience negative and painful.

I'm not sure how she stays in the business with her attitude and personality. I would avoid her at all costs.

Marquita Fuller- Unresponsive and Rude

I sent information for my property to be listed for the Republican National Convention. I did not receive a response from Marquita Fuller until two weeks later when I reached out again.

Waited another week for her to respond to that. Waited another two weeks after that for confirmation that she received my photos and paperwork.

She then got rude via email stating that she never received the photos I sent, "as she referenced in her first email." Not sure if she doesn't know how to use email or download attachments, but I then pointed out to her when and where the photos were originally attached. At that point I requested that my property be removed from their listings; THIS IS NOT SOMEONE I WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH.

If you must deal with this company have a lawyer from the beginning because they lie

Original review Mar 24, 2016
I have never dealt with such awful people in my life. From beginning to end the realtor Denise was no help what so ever!

The mortgage broker did not know what he was doing.

Something that should have been exciting as a first time home buyer was a nightmare!! You can call any realtor and I'd suggest you do!

Tried to buy one house from Howard Hanna and after we got the inspection done the realtor tried to bully us by saying "we have a backup buyer incase you don't want the house" mind you, our offer was already accepted and there was alot wrong with the house. We called their bluff and got out of the contract. The house is still for sale and hasn't been pending since we had an offer on it.

Good for you, I'm glad that someone has thought to write a complaint publically, it can't be covered up. Always trust your instincts regarding your agent or the company they are with.

I was a Realtor for 28 years and with Howard Hanna most of those years, I may have had one or two client complaints if that, in the 28 years selling Real Estate. I can't remember any at all except I'm sure there had to be. I did get a few complaints from other agents, this is to be expected if you are representing your clients the way you should. A Realtors job is to represent their own client, hoping, in the end, the other agent and agents client were also happy, but we all know that can't always be the case.

It wasnt about them it was always about my clients and what was best for them. I have always strived to not only meet my clients needs but to exceed them when it was within my power to do so. I became an agent to help people, to treat them as I would want to be treated. When an agent in my office became the new manager at Howard Hanna, my life as a Realtor changed!

I worked from home mostly because I had a disability that would not allow me to go into the office as much as other agents or the new manager thought I should. But I looked at it as it was their problem, I'm able to work and do my job this way, the manager that left knew of my disability and knew I would do what they wanted as much as I could, but my main objective was to do what was best for my clients, not office personnel or other agents. I didn't worry about office talk, maybe I should have. I worked nicely around my disability for all of those years until the new manager took over, she stopped many of the things I had set up to help me do my job and interfered in every transaction I had after not succeeding in getting me to reduce one of my listings by $25,000.00, telling me it was overpriced then later learning her friend was putting in an offer for that same amount, and I had another offer from another buyer on the table for close to what my Sellers wanted.

When I refused I was bullied and released from the listing with her, new manager, becoming listing agent and then I was later fired, the firing also occurred after writing her a letter detailing her unethical behavior, of course knowing it could be my job. But I never kept my mouth shut when it came to anyone being unethical or illegal. Many other things happened too many to mention after she read that letter. One of those things is I still have a Seller that was over charged, which if the Company would go back and look at the contract they would see it written in the contract, they were shorted $500.00.

Unfortunately, the Company doesn't stand up for their agents if a Manager is a problem, at least in my case, I was to go through proper channels, but district managers ignore you. When my Sellers and Buyers stuck up for me, she called them liars and went on to fire me and take several $1,000's of dollars from my commissions, she never let me go back to my office to get my client folders from my desk, erased all emails immediately and my access to my files were gone. The stress of being bullied, almost daily for months made my work with my clients suffer for the first time in 28 years and made my disabilities progress to the point I am now unemployed unable to work, this after working 28 years in a career I loved. So again, be careful out there and trust your instincts when it comes to your agent or the Company they are with.

I loved my job and the clients I represented and am so sad I am not able to work anymore.

Oh and the home she wanted me to reduce, well my Seller kept in contact with me, even tried to get the manager out, but no help from corporate, it did sell for exactly what I told my Seller it would sell for! I worked very hard for both my Sellers and Buyers even if I wasn't going to get paid, and 94% of my clients came from referrals from past buyers and sellers!

Roseann Reilly Pepper Pike Howard Hanna Real Estate

Selling home. This was buyers agent. Continued to be in breach of contract, delayed intentionally... And forgot that her highness database admin... That everything is time stamped when jpegs of documents are sent. Was very unprofessional to large firms on speaker phone and recorded yelling at public company chairman while trying to ascertain questions. Similar pattern exhibited in court records with her rental property in Solon Ohio Cuyahoga Case publicly recorded in 2005 on cuyahoga county website under roseann Reilly and roseann palumbo. This is a repeated pattern and I am shocked that such a customer service oriented firm would allow this. We are moving forward with formal complaint to state of Ohio real Estate board. We were repeatedly threatened by her. Which makes no sense since she was in breach of contact every step of this contract and we were always on time and complied with all contractual verbiage. Roseann palumbo Reilly cost us 700+k in house sale that was being offered by another buyer. Roseann did not realize we were not relying solely on the listed agent because we have a professional relationship with the top agent for Howard Hanna that walked us through each step. That agent said this is not how Howard Hanna trains it's agents and that they support our filing of formal complaint and possible legal action .
